Koo Koo Interview!

Once upon a time in a land before smart phones my adventurous spirit lay dormant, stifled by my crippling inability to find my way around. I can't say I have a bad sense of direction, because that would be bragging. I do not have a sense of direction at all. And growing up in St. Louis, "lets go explore" just wasn't in my vocabulary.
However, after spending the last decade in NYC my adventurous spirit has somehow clamored out of my Midwestern goody-two-shoes salutatorian self, and taken a liking to exploring the seedy underbelly of St. Louis nightlife whenever I’m back home. This is how I found the interactive dance party-duo Koo Koo Kanga Roo, whilst hanging out with my employers from high school who taught me everything I know about being cool. Perhaps that sentence didn’t sound cool to you, but IT IS.
Branded as a “Kids' Band. For Adults Too”, Koo Koo Kanga Roo is an interactive dance party duo from Minneapolis, MN. They have toured all over the country with Frank Turner, Reel Big Fish, The Aquabats and Yo Gabba Gabba. Since 2008, Koo Koo Kanga Roo have been all over the country putting on shows at preschools, bars, church basements and even nursing homes. The show is centered on acting silly, dancing as hard you can, and sweating.
These guys are awesome rainbows and their catchy tunes make me dance around like a dinosaur, karate chop like a ninja and partake in making friendship bracelets daily. They have also been kind enough to let me use their music in my new comedy web series “Get a Life Coach”, which is featured in every episode! Check out our season featuring Koo Koo Kanga Roo every Monday starting January 5th!
And now, for a Koo Koo Interview (drum roll, splat):
1-Where do you get your dance moves, and how can I be more like you?
We get our dance moves from our brains. Which are mostly influenced by things we saw on TRL in 1999. You can be more like us by dressing like us and somehow finding a way to become 6’4”.
2-Are unicorns really real, and why?
They are! In our song about Unicorns we claim that they are real simply because we believe it to be true. However, their existence is because of top secret United States government testing gone wrong.
3-Which of you has more friendship bracelets?
Bryan has a few more friendship bracelets than I do. The ginger nation treats friendship bracelets like currency.
4-If you were a life coach, what is one piece of advice you would give?
Don’t listen to Carol. She’s just looking for attention and for someone that she can drag down with her into that pit of emotional refuge. Remember, not everyone has your best interests at heart and Carol absolutely has ulterior motives.
5-6 degrees of Kevin Bacon…GO!
Bryan’s Mom used to babysit Kevin Bacon’s older sister’s uncle.
6-What are your top 10 favorite cities to perform in?
1. Minneapolis, MN
2. St. Paul, MN
3. The Rest, USA
7-What is the best part of performing for kids?
Making their parents second guess their decision to bring their kids to the show.
8-What are the funniest things kids have said during, or after a performance?
“Is Bryan always that pale?”
“Stop.”
“Can I lick your mustache?”
“I wish they were The Wiggles”
“Will you get me DJ Lance Rock’s autograph?”
9-If you had a life coach, what are three question you would ask them?
1. Why does it hurt?
2. When will it stop?
3. Am I listening to too much early 90’s Weezer?
